Types of Google Accounts for Business
Gmail, G Suite, Google My Business…what does it all mean?!
As a business owner, it can sometimes be difficult deciding which types of online accounts are essential for business growth. Between new services and software applications popping up on a near daily basis, you can soon find yourself trying to manage 40 different logins and passwords if you attempt to give them all a try. To help cut through all of that noise we’re going to be focusing on the kingpin of them all – Google.
Is your Google business listing optimized?
Through the years, Google has continued to provide business owners of all kinds with a variety of beneficial accounts. By the end of this article, you’ll have a firm understanding of which ones will help you achieve the growth you want.
1. Google Account
A Google account is one of the most basic and core account types you can have through Google. Signing up for this free account will instantly grant you access to a wide array of Google services and products. Once your account is created, you’ll be able to use Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Photos, Google Docs, and so much more. Whether you’re a small business or large, each of these tools can be immensely helpful, especially considering you can access them from a computer or even your smartphone.
Additionally, being signed into your Google account while browsing the internet offers a number of helpful features such as saving login information. Think about the number of times you’ve forgotten login information and spend 30+ minutes searching for it!
As one of the most trusted and widely used email providers in the world, Gmail is more often than not the go-to choice for many business owners. Sure, if you already have an established email and don’t feel like switching everything over, it may not be for you, but you’ll at least want to hear about the benefits.
One of the biggest perks to having a Gmail account is getting to use Google Hangouts directly from your inbox. With this handy tool, you can easily keep in touch with team members all while tending to that flood of emails that came in overnight. Gmail users also get the added benefits of superior spam filtering and up to 15GB (yes, you read that correctly) of storage. That means fewer phishing scams and more room for the information that’s important.
3. G Suite
At first glance, G Suite may seem almost identical to the free Google Account we covered in point one. However, upon closer inspection, you’ll come to realize G Suite has been specifically designed for businesses that are looking to scale beyond the features a traditional Google account offers. Depending on the kind of business you run, there are multiple G Suite levels you can choose from. For the sake of this example, we’re going to be covering the G Suite Business edition which offers a ton of handy benefits to business owners.
With the G Suite Business edition, you’ll gain access to perks like a business email account for that polished look you’ve always wanted, unlimited storage, and tons of cost-saving features that you would have to otherwise pay additionally for.
4. Google Ads
Whether you’re selling products online or you have a physical location, Google Ads is easily one of the best Google accounts you can have. Between customizable marketing campaigns, detailed targeting, and easy cost control, Google Ads is the way to reach your target audience no matter where they are.
Part of what makes Google Ads so attractive to businesses of all sizes is having the ability to spend as little or as much as you want. With detailed campaign controls and parameters, you never have to worry about a surprise bill that breaks the bank or blows your whole budget. The detailed metrics are another great feature Google Ads offers. With these, you can quickly and accurately identify trends, gain a better understanding of what you’re doing right (or wrong), and even get a better idea of who your target customers are.
5. Google My Business
If you own any kind of business where customers can actually come visit your store or office, Google My Business is unquestionably essential. Creating a Google My Business account for your business is the only way to get a personalized listing directly with Google and even show up in Google Map searches.
Showing up in Google searches will not only help direct potential customers to your business, but it also allows them to share their experience with the GMB star rating system. That automatically creates a sense of trust on top of creating an interactive online facet to your business that customers can use to check our your website, ask questions, book a table, or even call you directly.
Lastly, having a free Google My Business account is a great way to set yourself apart from the pack and take advantage of some cost-free marketing. So, if you haven’t already, be sure to get your brand set up with a Google My Business account to see what you’ve been missing out on!
Now that you have all of the information you need on the various Google accounts, it’s time to evaluate the ones that will best benefit your business. Considering that almost all of them are free, don’t be afraid to test them out and see what works or what doesn’t!
