If you’re starting a business or are looking to improve your company’s brand identity, you might want to start by making a logo.
Logos are a critical aspect of your brand. Essentially, your logo may be the first thing a customer notices before learning more about your product or service.
Now, a quality logo considers a number of important design elements, and requires expert design skill to truly convey the nature and personality of your business. However, a simple text logo can get you started in the right direction.
Did you know? A recent study analyzed a list of the top 100 money making companies in the world and found intriguing similarities in their logo designs.
Don’t think you can make your own logo? Your budget is tight and your time is limited. So we came up with this step-by-step guide that any business owner, regardless of your artistic skills, can use to make a text logo in 9 short steps!
Let’s make a simple text logo.
There are several great design platforms you can use to create a logo, such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, and Jeta Logo Designer. However, these programs can be expensive or tough to get. But there’s also a great online platform called Pixlr which is online, very similar to Photoshop, and better yet – it’s FREE! We’ll use Pixlr for the purposes of this tutorial.
Today, I’ll be making a logo for my made-up business Joe’s Pizza.
1.) Go to http://pixlr.com/editor
2.) Click on Create a new image
3.) In the pop up box add the following:
4.) Click the Drawing Tool that can be found in the left Tool panel. Once you click the drawing tool, go to the top menu bar and click the Ellipse tool found right below the image tab.
5.) With the Ellipse tool you are going to create a circle. Click in the checkered box from the top left and hold and drag the mouse from top left to bottom right of the checkered box until you have created a circle. Use the tool that looks like your mouse pointer to move the circle to the center.
6.) Click the Type Tool that can be found at the bottom of the left Tool panel to create a text box. It’s the one with the A icon. Click and drag the mouse into checkered box. A new window will open to type in.
7.) In the Text box – type your business name. We put ours on two lines.
8.) Click the File tab in the top right corner of the page. Then click Save.
9.) Save the file as a PNG (Transparent, full quality). Then click OK.
Voila! You now have a text logo!
Wasn’t that easy? 9 steps are all it takes to create a simple logo to brand your business.
