There is no shortage of companies asking small businesses to shell out hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars to promote themselves. But if you’re like most small business owners, you could really use some free tools to jumpstart your marketing. That’s why we’ve begun a weekly blog series featuring free tools for SMB owners to help you with your various marketing needs.
Twitter is an important tool on social media. You have the chance to engage with countless users about your business and share important or interesting information. But sometimes coming up with a good tweet is difficult–how do you make sure that you’re getting the point across in 140 characters or less so that you can engage your followers? What are the best words to use to explain what you want?
That’s where Save Publishing comes in! Save Publishing is a website that picks sentences less than 140 characters out of an article or webpage for you to share on Twitter.
Save Publishing is easy to get started using. Simply go to the website and drag the bookmarklet to your browser’s toolbar. This will enable you to use the bookmarklet while you’re on any website in your browser. You must also be signed into Twitter while using Save Publishing, as the bookmarklet cannot publish anything to a website unless you’re signed in.
After putting the bookmarklet in your bookmark toolbar and signing into Twitter, you’re ready to use Save Publishing! The next time you find yourself reading something that you wish to share on Twitter, click the bookmarklet in the bookmark toolbar. Save Publishing will pop up and highlight in red sentences that are under 140 characters for you to use on Twitter as well as a shortened link of the website content. By taking an except from an article or blog, Save Publishing can incorporate interesting content straight onto Twitter for you. See the example below of how Save Publishing worked on your 10 Marketing and Blog Ideas for November.
It is important to realize, however, that Save Publishing won’t do all of the work for you. It will find short sentences but won’t read them for you, which means that it might catch sentences that wouldn’t make sense for you to share on Twitter. So make sure to read over what you post from Save Publishing to make sure that it makes sense in the context of sharing the content. Save Publishing is a great tool to use to take some of the work out of curating and sharing content on Twitter. Check it out and let us know if Save Publishing works for you!
