To really leverage Pinterest’s power, there is a lot more you can (and should!) do once you’ve created your business’ page.

In Part 1 of marketing with Pinterest, we helped you get started and establish your presence on Pinterest, but like other social networks, just setting up an account is just where the work begins.

How do you take advantage of Pinterest’s wide reach and audience?

Promote your page

Be sure to promote your page to let people know you’re on Pinterest! Don’t just assume they’ll find you. One way you can do this is by adding the Follow Button to your website. With this button, customers won’t even need to leave your site to follow you on Pinterest and start seeing your posts!

Don’t stop there – promote Pinterest in your email signature, on business cards, social networks, marketing materials, and even in your store! You can even highlight your most popular pins on your website, in emails, or in your place of business. Have fun with it!

Make it easy for people to Pin from your website!

  • Add a Pin It button and invite people to add pins from your website to their own boards
  • Pre-populate pin descriptions, making them easier and faster for users to share, as well as having the description you’d prefer pinned, making it relevant and searchable!
  • Promote your Pinterest page with a follow button or icon

Create an engaging experience on Pinterest

Once you have people following you on Pinterest and actively pinning and repinning your content, keep things engaging to make it worth their (and your!) while.

  • Create group boards, allowing others to pin their own content.
      • For example, ask people to pin pictures of themselves using your product or at your place of business. It’s engaging and user-generated content can be incorporated into other marketing channels!
  • Promote insider deals or tips with pins, or run a contest
  • Be an active Pinner! Follow other boards and be sure to repin, like, and comment on other users’ content. This will help gain followers and create an engaging community
  • See what people are pinning from your website or other websites (like your competition) using this URL: http://www.pinterest.com/source/anywebsiteURL.com/ to see what’s popular.

What’s new on Pinterest?

Pinterest is continuously improving their user experience and adding features. Here are the latest additions to the network:

  • Guided Search helps you sort through the more than 30 billion pins to find what you are looking for
  • Following Interests instead of just users allows you to discover more content within your own feed
  • Promoted Pins allow businesses to pay to get their pins seen by more than just their followers

Pinterest is more than just a visually-appealing social network. It can help you gain new customers, earn their trust, and gives you another way to engage. With our tips and tricks, we hope you will create your own Pinteresting community that will grow in years to come!
