This week at Propel, we’re celebrating our interns! Check out what Social Media Intern Raphaelle has to say about the yet another update from Facebook…
Remember the expression “a picture is worth a thousand words”? Well, this might have been Facebook’s inspiration when it launched its new photo comments. The social media giant’s 1.1 billion members are now able to react to their friends’ status updates with photos and not just words alone.
Facebook stated last Wednesday that it has released the new feature, allowing users to add photos to comments using a new ‘Attach a Photo’ button. The upload of photo comments is restricted to the Facebook web site and mobile site, but viewing of the photos will be possible from its mobile applications as well.
Bob Baldwin, one of the developers behind the release, said he was inspired to create the photo comment feature because, “sometimes showing a photo helps me tell a story much better than words alone”. The new addition to the social network could turn it into a more teen-friendly platform, making commenting more playful. Baldwin has high expectations for the new feature stating: “I hope this will make threads with friends more expressing and engaging”.
Have you tried using Facebook Photo Comments yet? Is it the update you’ve always been waiting for? What do you think?
