Ambient noise of around 70 decibels fosters more creative thinking than low or loud noise. This is good news for those who have the freedom to do their writing in a coffee shop, but not everyone has that luxury.

So how can you get that coffee shop experience without actually being at a coffee shop? Coffitivity  is a website and app that provides the background ambient noise of a coffee shop, right from your computer or phone.

Ambient Noise Boosts Creativity

Studies have shown that ambient noise boosts creativity. Silence that can be interrupted by outside noises, creating distractions or startling us. Loud noises and voices interrupt our thought process. Ambient noise however, provides a happy medium for our brains by both arousing our senses as well as making things more difficult to process, which increases abstract thinking and enhances our creativity.

Despite the descriptions, the channels on Coffitivity are all hushed tones that provide background levels of noise without distraction. Try it yourself and see how productive you can be!
